BT Announce London Broadband Plans

87% of small businesses and homes in London will get superfast broadband services through BT’s next generation access network by early 2011.

BT also claimed that nearly 90% of premises in London already had access to speeds of up to 20Mbps using the company’s ADSL2+ copper based technology. These speeds are set to increase to around 40Mbps after the installation of the fibre optics.

The question remains, is London going to benefit from this upgrade due to 2012 Olypics been based there and why should the rest of the country be running perhaps years behind the technolgy that will get rolled out in London?
